Anik

Canada's "little brothers"...in Space

In the Inuit dialect, Anik means "little brother" and our fixed satellite service (FSS) satellites, positioned over the Americas, are prefaced with this name in tribute to the native people who inhabit Northern Canada.

Telesat launched its first Anik satellite, Anik A1, in 1972. Our most recent Anik, Anik F3 , was launched on April 9, 2007, and is providing a wide range of broadcasting, business communications, and Internet services to users across North America.  Our next Anik satellite, Anik G1, is scheduled for launch in the second half of 2012.
