Nimiq

Telesat's Nimiq satellites are used by Bell TV and DISH Network to provide Direct-to-Home (DTH) and broadcast services to consumers in North America.

"Nimiq" is an Inuit word used for a thing or a force which binds things together.

Four (4) Nimiq DTH satellites are currently in orbit

  • Nimiq 1 at 91 W
  • Nimiq 2 at 91 W
  • Nimiq 4 at 82 W
  • Nimiq 5 at 72.7 W
  • Nimiq 6 is under construction and scheduled for launch in the first half of 2012
